TrueCrypt is a real-time information data encryption program that creates encrypted virtual logical disks stored as files.
The program is designed for the following operating systems: Microsoft 7 (NT 5, Vista, XP), Linyx, macOS.
TrueCrypt features
The software gives you the ability to encrypt hard drive partitions and removable data storage devices (Flach cards, disks, etc.). All data saved with TrueCrypt is located in the volume with the same name and is fully encrypted, up to the directory and file names. The created TrueCrypt volume is similar to a regular logical disk, so it is handled by conventional utilities that check and defragment disks and the file system.
TrueCrypt creates an encrypted virtual disk:
- in a file, which makes it easy to work with - copy, move, rename and delete;
- in the disk partition and even in the system partition, thereby increasing performance and providing convenient operation;
- Full encryption of the contents of removable devices (USB, Flach-cards, disks).
Additional TrueCrypt features
- The program can be launched without installing it in the operating system;
- ability to create an encrypted dynamic file on NTFS disks. Such volume grows as new data accumulates to the specified maximum size. Using this feature affects the performance and security of the operating system;
- changing passwords and passphrases without risk of losing encrypted data;
- backup saving and restoring of volume headers.
- ability to manually, with the help of "hot keys", start partition mounting/unmounting as well as displaying/hiding the program window;
- Using the program on a PC as a standard user with the initial installation of the program by the administrator.
