Duet is a minimalist arcade game for Android in which two connected balls rotate around a common axis and must pass between falling obstacles in sync. Controls are based on tapping the left and right sides of the screen: one direction rotates the pair clockwise, the other anticlockwise. A mistake by either ball results in a collision, so the game quickly turns what appears to be a simple movement into a test of reaction time and precision.

Duet’s features

• The campaign is divided into consecutive episodes with progressively more complex obstacle layouts. Narrow passages require you to change the direction of rotation in advance, rather than reacting at the last moment.
• The two balls move simultaneously and are positioned on opposite sides of the circle. A safe path for one may prove dangerous for the other, forcing you to plan the movement of the entire pair.

• The game features high-contrast geometric graphics: coloured objects stand out clearly against a calm background, whilst the outlines of obstacles remain visible even on a small display.
• The soundtrack sets the mood for the gameplay and maintains the rhythm during tense sections. The audio feedback helps you notice a collision without having to constantly look at the interface.
• Once the main challenges have been completed, additional modes are unlocked, designed for replaying the game and improving your personal score.

Advantages of the game

• The rules of Duet are self-explanatory: you only need to see the spinning pair and the falling blocks to understand the objective. It takes little time to get the hang of it, but mastering the game requires practice.
• The minimal number of elements on the screen helps you focus on the distance between the balls and the obstacles. The visual style doesn’t obscure dangerous areas with decorative details.
• The levels are designed for short attempts. After a mistake, you can quickly start again and try a different angle, without wasting time on lengthy preparation.
• The gradually increasing difficulty keeps things interesting: at first, it’s enough to keep an eye on single blocks, but later you have to take several objects into account and change direction almost without pause.

Drawbacks of the arcade game

• Repeated collisions can quickly become tedious. On tricky sections, misses often occur due to a slight delay in choosing a direction, so completing the levels requires a steady pace and memorising sequences.
• The repetitive mechanics take a while to reveal their full potential. For those who prefer a variety of characters, story sequences or a wealth of gameplay actions, Duet may seem too minimalist.
• On smartphones with small screens, your finger may partially block your view during sudden direction changes. This is particularly noticeable when obstacles appear close to the edge of the display.
• The musical presentation isn’t suited to every scenario: during a long series of attempts, the repetitive tracks can feel monotonous, even if the sound is turned off in the device settings.
