The fastest browser in the world
Some people prefer Opera, others like Firefox, others love Google Browser, for Apple users there is nothing better than Safari, and some are loyal to Internet Explorer. So which of these five browsers is better? Or it would be more correct to say - faster. After all, it is clear that for any user the best browser is the one you have been using for many years and it is fully customized for you. But you can always argue about performance, especially now, when almost every day there are not only new versions of the most popular browsers, but also completely new web browsers.
So, to determine the fastest browser, we need to run a few tests:
Kraken, SunSpider, Peacekeeper tests.
These tests will help you identify the leader among browsers in processing Java scripts. Why it is necessary. Java is one of the most widespread programming languages of the Internet, so its processing speed cannot be overlooked.
Chrome and Firefox had the best results in Kraken, they managed to process a larger amount of data in the allotted time. Opera was in the middle, and Safari and IE at the end.
In the SunSpider test there were almost completely opposite results. Thus, IE came out in the lead with 165.2 ms, followed by Opera and Firefox, and Chrome and Safari in the tail.
And the last test in this list - Peacekeeper (shows the whole picture of working with Java) brought Opera and Chrome to the first places with 12 546 and 12 120 points. But FF in this test was in last place with 6,873 points.
As a result, in the percentage of tests passed, Google Chrome is in the lead. It did not take the first place unconditionally, but it showed itself worthily in all tests. Apple's Safari, on the other hand, practically failed this test.
GUIMark 2 Flash, Flash Benchmark tests
These tests check the speed of Flash processing. This technology, although "heavy", is in high demand for developing banners, games, animation and playing audio and video on web pages.
In the first test, all browsers were approximately equal, but when testing gaming capabilities, IE took the lead and secured the first place. The top five was closed this time by Opera.
Flash Benchmark differs from the previous test by the quality of flash settings. And this time difficulties came out only when loading games with the maximum quality of images and effects. Safari was able to reach the index of 15 FSP, the others did not exceed 11-12 FSP. Chrome was in the last place.
So, in these tests, the first place unreservedly belongs to IE for its success in gaming tests. The others showed good performance and were arranged in a close group: Opera, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
The HTML 5 Test, CSS3 Selectors Test, Acid3 tests
These tests perform a comprehensive check of browsers for compliance with popular programming languages.
The first test, as you can see from the name, is responsible for checking the work in a given language. Here the leader is GC again. But the outsider's place was taken by IE, having almost completely failed the test. The others took their places with a small difference in their indicators.
In the second test for the first time all the browsers showed excellent results, scoring all possible points.
In the third test, too, there were excellent results, though 100% only for Chrome, Opera and Safari. In the second place Firefox and in the third place IE.
As a result, after these tests, we can note that Chrome is in the lead (excellent results in HTML and 100% in other tests). In contrast, IE is relegated to the bench because of the failure of the first test.
Dromaeo DOM, Maze Solver tests
These tests are designed to verify that web browsers work correctly with the DOM interface and cascading CSS tables respectively.
In the first test Safari won an unqualified victory. Chrome and Firefox closed the top three, while Opera and IE were at the end.
In the second test, when exiting the game maze, Safari overtook Chrome by 2.3 seconds, which brought it the first place. With a big gap (9.1 sec.) Opera came in third place. IE is in fourth with a score of 36 sec. But Firefox completely failed this test (as much as 206 sec.).
As a result, Safari is the best according to the results of these tests. Chrome has good results and takes the second place with a small lag. Firefox is next and Opera and IE are on the last places respectively.
What can we say, summarizing the results of these tests? Who is the fastest browser?
According to the total result, the winner is Google Chrome. Despite the fact that it is the youngest browser among the reviewed ones, the number of its fans is growing very quickly.
Apple Safari took the honorable second place. Not the least role in awarding the second place was played by the results of DOM and CSS tests. This only confirms the existing opinion about the quality of Apple products.
Next are Opera, Internet Explorer, Firefox.
The gap between these places is not big, so the positions are rather conditional. And these browsers lack not so much to the leaders, so it is likely that with the release of new versions, the results may improve.
In any case, the developers of web browsers do not have to rest. The Internet is constantly on the move, constantly changing, and in order to keep up with the new technologies, they have to constantly look for new ways to solve the tasks at hand. And no one knows which browser will take the top spot next time.
