Windows Defender Offline is a free bootable disk (ISO image) that allows you to perform anti-virus scanning of your PC for malware, rootkits, and potentially dangerous software using Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus technologies. The package is especially useful if your Windows operating system is corrupted by viruses and won't start.
Note: The scanner works only when launched from removable media (CD/DVDs and flash drives).
Microsoft Security Essentials features
- Scans the computer on startup, detects and removes detected threats;
- Scans your computer for rootkits, spyware, viruses, and other potentially dangerous software;
- The threats found by the program are sent for analysis to Miscrosoft Active Protection Service, where the data is added to the general list of malicious programs in the virus database to further protect the computer from similar threats.
Windows Defender Offline is designed to ease the work on the computer, even for inexperienced users, allowing you to deal with the threats yourself instead of turning to professionals when your computer is infected with viruses.
