UltraDefrag is a free utility for defragmenting your computer's hard drive. Unlike many defragmenters, UltraDefrag is an open-source program.
Besides the fact that with this utility you can quickly solve the problem of defragmented hard drive partitions, you yourself can participate in fine-tuning UltraDefrag using the open source code of the program.
UltraDefrag can fix almost all disk errors, including those of files not yet running (directly at Windows startup).

UltraDefrag can defragment both FAT and NTFS disks with only slight limitations:
- the utility cannot defragment FAT directories,
- it cannot defragment file tables (MFT).
Nevertheless, the program tries to optimize these files as well by placing their fragments side by side.
UltraDefrag works fine on computers with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Older versions of the program (up to v6) can be used on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, but with some limitations. On these systems, UltraDefrag cannot optimize FAT directories and cannot work with NTFS disks with clusters larger than 4 KB.
