X Codec Pack is one of the most "complete" codec packs for decoding and working with media files.
The package contains the following components:
- a set of codecs;
- The Codec Detective application (gives a list of all installed codecs with detailed information about each one);
- Media Player Classic.
The purpose of the package is to smoothly process media files of a large number of popular formats (video and audio). X Codec Pack can handle a lot of typical problems that occur when certain codecs are missing:
- lack of format support;
- no or low sound quality;
- "stuttering";
- image stuttering, etc.
The functionality of the X Codec Pack

- The Codec Detective component shows you which codecs are already installed on your system and details about each of them;
- you can listen to music and watch movies using the Media Player Classic, which is built into the pack (you can associate the necessary file types with it in the player settings).
