Yandex.Navigator - the client part of the Yandex Maps navigation service for Android devices. It can create routes for motorists, truck drivers, cyclists and pedestrians (including transfers to different types of public transport). Can work with both online and offline maps.
It is equipped with a built-in information aggregator that downloads information about traffic jams, road works, weather conditions and other factors affecting the traffic situation. It has an integrated information and reference database with information about commercial organizations, retail outlets, gas stations, and other objects on the map.
Yandex.Navigator functionality
- Displays an offline map of the specified city in the search bar;
- Remembers the specified type of routing (car, truck, pedestrian, bicycle, etc.) and adjusts navigation settings accordingly;
- Reads text data from the search bar, or, interprets voice commands using Alice's built-in virtual assistant, and inserts the appropriate addresses into the search bar;
- Plots a route from the selected location or, if there is a connection to satellites and cell towers, from the device's location, to the final destination;
- Loads and plots actual data on road works, traffic jams, weather conditions, and other important factors on the map and highlights them automatically on the paved route or, in the absence of Internet, highlights the chance of a traffic jam based on its own information from the built-in database;
- Notifies the user about the upcoming maneuver with the voice emulation function;
- Makes a sound signal in case of significant speed exceeding on the sections of the route with the speed limit;
- Displays detailed information (phone numbers, operating hours, customer reviews, free parking, etc.) about each object on the map when you click on it;
- Interprets third-party voice commands using Alice's virtual assistant.
