Virtual Router is a "virtual access point" Wi-Fi for Windows. Allows you to switch Wi-Fi modules and "whistles" into "forwarding" mode, thus "turning" them into an analogue of a router.
Creates access points directly from the interface without digging around in the console. Uses WPA2 encryption technology for security. Redirects traffic from Wi-Fi access devices to LAN cards, Dial-up, etc. Is open source.
Virtual Router functionality
- Puts the specified wireless access device into "forwarding" mode;
- Creates Wi-Fi network with specified SSID and WPA2 password;
- Redirects traffic from it to the network card and vice versa;
- Displays connected "machines", their signal strength and traffic consumption in real time;
- Logs all intranet sessions and writes them to a log file;
- Disables "forwarding" mode for the device in use when closing.
Utility features
- Launches the network "in one click" - without "digging in the console" and "dancing with bamboo";
- Open source code and plugin options;
- Supports most existing Wi-Fi modules and adapters (including Chinese);
- Use of the powerful WPA2 security algorithm;
- Display of connected "clients" in real time;
- Logging of actions of the connected users;
- Restoring the system to a "normal" state after it has been closed.
Disadvantages
- Only the specified Wi-Fi module/adapter works - others are "disabled";
- Some Apple devices and devices running older versions of Android may not "see" the network.
