SwitchVirtualRouter is an application for managing (creating, configuring, starting, and disabling) virtual Wi-Fi access points. It is intended for use on Windows computers and laptops.
Using the SwitchVirtualRouter application
If you have external USB Wi-Fi, you can run a virtual hotspot, that is, a Hot Spot. In other words, having a router that supports wireless connection is not necessary at all, because the SwitchVirtualRouter utility will allow you to distribute the Internet from your computer.
The main advantages of SwitchVirtualRouter
- compact size of the installed application and undemanding to system resources;
- no need to run services;
- ability to configure the adapter and restart it;
- turning off the computer or hibernating it;
- control over access to the network;
- administration of devices that use the created connection;
- special pop-up menu for the convenience of configuring the application.
The only drawback is that the application works only on Windows 7 and 8.
To configure the application, just go to the general tab and specify the basic operating parameters: automatic launch, availability of an icon in the tray, etc. After launching, it will be necessary to specify a few more parameters of Internet distribution. After that it will be possible to close SwitchVirtualRouter, and virtual access point will work in an automatic mode, and you can use the Internet on several devices at once. This will assign one of the statuses to the device:
- An IP address is issued and the device (probably) has access to the Internet;
- No IP address has been issued;
- An IP address has been assigned, but no Internet access is available.
