Smart Defrag is a service utility for Windows that allows you to perform "deep" defragmentation of media connected to your PC. It has several defragmentation modes and a graphical management interface.
Can defragment "on schedule" and "under certain conditions" (CPU load 40%, HDD response time, non-use of PC, etc.). Supports "low-level" defragmentation. In addition to defragmentation also optimizes the location of "information blocks" of stored files.
Smart Defrag functionality
- Integrates into the system, initiates logging of "movements" of "information blocks" of stored and created files;
- Defragments the selected storage medium by the specified method ("hidden", "automatic" or manual);
- Creates a file with "chronological points" of defragmentation and defragments the selected media according to the schedule specified in the file;
- Memorizes user-specified conditions, analyzes PC hardware sensor readings and defragments the specified data storage media when the specified condition (CPU load 40%, HDD response time, non-use of the PC, etc.) is met
- Optimizes the location of "information blocks" of files, "speeding up" their reading.
Utility Features
- Intelligent system for optimizing the location of "information blocks";
- Several defragmentation modes;
- Ability to perform automatic defragmentation according to a "schedule";
- Ability to perform automatic defragmentation according to the "list of conditions";
- Support for "low-level" data defragmentation;
Disadvantages
- Automated defragmentation "on condition" occurs with a delay after the "specified condition" is met (the length of the delay is determined by the workload of the PC);
- Some kinds of portable storage media are not supported.
