CuneiForm is a free system from the English company Cognitive Technologies that allows you to perform optical text recognition.
At the very beginning this system was developed as a commercial product and was bundled with certain models of scanners.
After some break in development company Cognitive Technologies has stopped support and sales of this system.
Capabilities of CuneiForm
Today CuneiForm is a system for conversion of electronic documents and images into an editable form and allows to keep structure and fonts of original documents both in automatic and semi-automatic modes.
CuneiForm includes two programs that are used for both single and batch processing of electronic documents.
There has been no update to the latest OpenSource version for the Windows operating system since 2/14/2009. This version is currently not offered for download. Its worthy replacement is the version released on 11.11.2008. The version from 0.9.0, which is an open version for the Linux operating system, can be used as a library.
