The tool allows you to quickly locate supported devices on the network and perform standard service operations related to the configuration and maintenance of a printer or MFP. Some functions depend on the device model and the drivers installed.

First, check the network and the device’s availability. Then refresh the list of devices in the programme and ensure that the correct detection method is being used.

• Check that the printer and PC are on the same network
• Make sure the device is switched on and is not in sleep mode
• If necessary, restart the device scan in Canon MF Toolbox

If the device still does not appear after this, there may be firewall restrictions or the model may be incompatible with the selected function.

Generally, most operations are more convenient via a network connection, as the software is designed to detect devices. A USB connection may not work for all tasks — this depends on the MFP model and available modules.

• For network devices: more features are usually available
• For USB: some features may be limited

If you need a specific function, check its availability for your model in the programme interface.

For quick access, use the hotkeys in the programme interface:

• Ctrl + F — search the device list
• F5 — refresh list/detection

If the shortcut doesn’t work, this may depend on the current window and your keyboard layout.

The settings are available from the Canon MF Toolbox interface after selecting a specific device. Next, use the sections with settings or service parameters.

Go to Settings → Device (or a similar section in the interface) and select the required category.

• Printing: related settings are usually found in the device settings
• Scanning: settings often open in a separate tab

Most often, the problem is related to permissions, the device’s status, or a feature not supported by the specific model. An error may also occur if the device is not accessible over the network.

• Check that the MFP is switched on and responding
• Ensure you have followed the steps for the correct device in the list
• If necessary, run the programme as an administrator

If the errors persist, check the error code and model specifications — some settings may not be available.

Updates are usually performed by installing a new version over the existing one or via standard Windows tools. Uninstallation is done via system settings.

• Uninstall the programme via Settings → Apps → Installed apps
• To update, install the new version, then restart your PC if necessary

After reinstalling, it is recommended that you run device detection again to update the list.
